Preparing for Your Pre-LASIK Eye Examination
- Discontinue contact lens use 3–7 days before your evaluation if you wear soft contact lenses, to allow the cornea to return to its natural shape without lens-induced pressure. For rigid gas-permeable (RGP) or semi-hard lenses, please stop wearing them for at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Avoid driving yourself to the appointment. You should come with a friend or family member because dilating eye drops will be used during the examination, causing temporary light sensitivity and blurred vision for 4–6 hours. Please bring sunglasses for comfort after the examination.
- Avoid acne medications such as Roaccutane, Acnotin, or Isotretinoin for at least 1 month before the evaluation.
- Do not consume alcohol or take sleeping pills before your visit.
- The full evaluation typically takes 2–4 hours, so please allow sufficient time for the complete examination.
